Thalaiyar falls in one of the beautiful water falls in Kodaikanal. Which is stiuvated 20kms from the town centre. This falls is around 975ft high and it is the highest waterfall in Tamilnadu. The falls is not reachable to everyone because of it wide desne of the forest and the slippery hills. The way to the falls is the perfect trekking place for the tourist a local guide will be there for the trek. The wide angle of the falls can be seen from the dum dum view point. The edge at the top of the falls has a low concerete wall on the side to focus on the water from the falls. One can walk along the wall and get to see the centre of the falls. There is a 5ft rock through which one can get down to the edge directly straight down the little river at the bottom. One can watch the water in the freefall which is mostly silent. The noise of the crashing water doent rise up. The river water coming down from the stream is 9km which is streaming from downstream from Perumal Malai which is very pure nor polluted so the tourist people are not allowed to drink the water.
