Mannavanur Lake

A visit to Kodaikanal is not complete without a going to the magnificent Mannavanur Lake. There is a village called Poombarai, around 35 km from the town, nestled somewhere inside the forest. Covered up here, is the climbing trail to Mannavanur Lake. It takes about an hour to arrive at the lake from here, and the way goes through reeds and marshes, past surging meadows and thickets of pine. Thick forest surrounds this lake. The best an ideal opportunity to travel up to the lake will be promptly in the first part of the day when the forest and lake wake up with barbets and woodpeckers proclaiming the new day with boisterous calls while the earthy colored owls get back to roost. In transit back, there is a cascade called the Neptune Pool, most likely named so for its splendid turquoise and blue waters. Aside from outing and walks, one can also go for coracle rides. Forest office offers coracle ride with an ostensible charge. One can also visit sheep ranch. Horse riding is also a well known action to do here. To enter the lake complex, you are needed to compensation an insignificant section expense.
